STATEMENT

This bill appropriates $301,750 to the Department of Health (DOH) for the State cancer registry.

According to DOH, the registry files are currently only complete through 1991. As a result, the State is not able to apply for all available federal cancer grants and, thus, may be losing federal funds.

The monies appropriated in this bill would enable DOH to employ additional personnel to enable the registry's files to be made current and, thus, enable the DOH to apply for additional federal grants.

Supplemental appropriation of $301,750 to DOH for the State Cancer registry.
