An Act concerning additional fees for motor vehicle registrations and amending P.L.1992, c.87.

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. Section 1 of P.L.1992, c.87 (C.39:3-8.2) is amended to read as follows:

    1. In addition to the motor vehicle registration fees, including fees for duplicate and amended registrations, imposed pursuant to the provisions of chapter 3 of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes, the director shall impose and collect an additional fee of $1 to be deposited in the New Jersey Emergency Medical Service Helicopter Response Program Fund created pursuant to section 2 of P.L.1992, c.87 (C.26:2K-36.1).

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

    This bill imposes a $1 fee on duplicate and amended motor vehicle registrations to provide funding for the emergency medical service helicopter response program. P.L. 1992, c.87 (C.39:3-8.2) imposed a $1 fee on motor vehicle registrations to support the emergency medical service helicopter reserve program fund. This bill amends the existing law to authorize the additional $1 fee for duplicate and amended motor vehicle registrations as well as the standard registrations required by law. Its purpose is to provide additional revenues to support the emergency helicopter program.
