SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 1030

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: MAY 2, 1996

The Senate Judiciary Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1030.

Presently, under the provisions of the Casino Control Act, "casino" is defined as a single room in a casino hotel in which gaming may be conducted. This bill would amend the definition and define "casino" to mean "one or more locations or rooms" approved by the Casino Control Commission for casino gaming in a casino hotel. This change would remove the present requirement that expansions in casino operations be fitted into a single location.

The bill would also allow the Casino Control Commission to designate areas in a casino hotel where keno tickets may be sold. Presently, keno tickets may only be sold in the casino itself. The bill provides that keno tickets may be sold or redeemed at any location in a casino hotel approved by the Casino Control Commission.
