A Supplement to “An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1996 and regulating the disbursement thereof,” approved June 30, 1995 (P.L.1995, c.164).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L. 1995, c. 164, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

 

DIRECT STATE SERVICES

66 DEPARTMENT OF LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY

10 Public Safety and Criminal Justice

13 Special Law Enforcement Activities

1420 Election Law Enforcement Commission

 

17-1420 Election Law Enforcement Commission                   $890,000

Special Purpose:

Information Processing............................($890,000)

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill makes a supplemental appropriation for FY1996 of $890,000 from the General Fund to the Election Law Enforcement Commission to enable it to: 1) computerize completely the campaign finance reports the commission receives; 2) allow for the electronic filing of reports by candidates and committees; and 3) permit public access to campaign finance data at its office and at remote locations, such as libraries, and through the largest nonproprietary cooperative public computer network, also know as the Internet.


                             

 

Appropriates $890,000 to ELEC for full computerization of campaign reports, electronic filing thereof and public access thereto.
