SENATE LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
SENATE, No. 1151
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: JUNE 6, 1996
The Senate Law and Public Safety Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1151.
This bill makes a supplemental appropriation of $408,000 to the Department of Law and Public Safety for the Office of the State Medical Examiner. It is intended to provide funds sufficient to prevent any reduction in services provided through the Office of the State Medical Examiner to county governments through June 30, 1996. Due to a shortfall in the current fiscal year, toxicology testing services as well as other forensic and postmortem examinations performed by the State Medical Examiner for specific counties are scheduled to be drastically curtailed.
