An Act providing for State aid for the operation of environmental information centers by certain public libraries, supplementing P.L.1983, c.486 (C.18A:73-35a et seq.) and making an appropriation.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, any public library operating an environmental information center which received State funding in fiscal year 1991 pursuant to the "Library Network Law," P.L.1983, c.486 (C.18A:73-35a et seq.), shall receive annually an amount not less than $99,000 from the amount appropriated for payment pursuant to P.L.1983 c.486 (C.18A:73-35a et seq.) to support the operation of the environmental information center.

 

    2. There is appropriated $99,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Education, State Aid, and shall be identified as a supplemental appropriation in the State aid line item for Library Network in the Library Services program class. The funds shall be used to implement the provisions of section 1 of this act.

 

    3. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill provides for an annual appropriation of not less than $99,000 for any public library operating an environmental information center which received State funding in fiscal year 1991 pursuant to the Library Network Law. The funds will be paid annually from the Library Network State aid appropriation.

    The bill makes a supplemental appropriation of $99,000 for this purpose.

    This bill will apply only to the West Deptford Public Library which operates the South Jersey Environmental Information Center.
