      The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1261 of 1996.

      Senate Bill No. 1261 appropriates $5,000,000 to the Department of Corrections from the "Public Purpose Buildings and Community Based Facilities Construction Fund" for the replacement of the heat distribution system at the Bayside State Prison. The present system is the original heat distribution system installed as part of the original construction of the facility in 1969, which due to age and subsurface conditions in that area has deteriorated.

      As reported, this bill is identical to Assembly Bill No. 2111 of 1996 (Gibson/Asselta).

FISCAL IMPACT

      Senate Bill No. 1261 appropriates $5,000,000 to the Department of Corrections from the "Public Purpose Buildings and Community Based Facilities Construction Fund" for the replacement of the heat distribution system at the Bayside State Prison.
