      The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1317.

      Senate Bill No. 1317 appropriates or reappropriates to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) from the 1995, 1992, and 1989 Green Acres bond acts the sum of $22,536,000 to provide matching grants to assist qualifying tax exempt nonprofit organizations to acquire lands for recreation and conservation purposes, which sum would include administrative costs.

      To the extent that moneys remain available after the projects listed in this bill are offered funding or additional funding pursuant thereto, the projects of qualifying tax exempt nonprofit organizations listed in subsection a. of section 1 of P.L.1994, c.38, and in paragraph (3) of subsection a. of section 1 of P.L.1991, c.522, will be eligible for funding, including administrative costs, in a sequence consistent with the priority system established by the DEP, and subject to the approval of the Joint Budget Oversight Committee or its successor.

      The appropriation made by this bill will exhaust all Green Acres bond act funds allocated for matching grants to nonprofit organizations.

 

FISCAL IMPACT
