An Act concerning water pollution and supplementing P.L.1977, c.74 (C.58:10A-1 et seq.).

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. The Department of Environmental Protection shall not adopt regulations pursuant to the "Water Pollution Control Act," P.L.1977, c.74 (C.58:10A-1 et seq.) that allow for the increase of a permit effluent limitation for the discharge of hazardous pollutants by any permittee into the waterways of the State other than any increase authorized by regulations in effect on January 1, 1996.

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

    This bill would prohibit the Department of Environmental Protection from adopting regulations pursuant to the "Water Pollution Control Act," P.L.1977, c.74 (C.58:10A-1 et seq.) that would result in the discharge of increased amounts of hazardous pollutants.

Prohibits regulations allowing increased discharge of hazardous pollutants.
