An Act concerning the general public assistance program and supplementing P.L.1947, c.156 (C.44:8-107 et seq.).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The Department of Human Services is prohibited from taking any action to facilitate or provide, directly or indirectly, for the privatization of any administrative service, activity or function associated with the operation of any aspect of the general public assistance program established pursuant to the "General Public Assistance Law," P.L.1947, c.156 (C.44:8-107 et seq.), including, but not limited to, the determination of eligibility for the program, the processing of applications to participate in the program, or the provision of financial or other assistance to recipients of benefits under the program.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill prohibits the Department of Human Services from privatizing any administrative service, activity or function associated with the operation of the general public assistance program.
