SENATE, No. 1513

with Senate committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: JANUARY 27, 1997

The Senate Budget and Appropriations` Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1513 (1R) with amendments.

Senate Bill No. 1513 (1R), as amended, appropriates from the General Fund $227,000 to the New Jersey Historical Commission and $30,000 for the Walter Edge Foran New Jersey Studies Institute.

Of the sum appropriated for the New Jersey Historical Commission, $204,000 would be allocated for salaries, wages, and administrative costs, $21,000 for New Jersey history grants, and $2,000 for Afro-American history grants. Thus, the bill would restore those funding categories to FY 1996 levels. The $30,000 for the Walter Edge Foran New Jersey Studies Institute would be a partial restoration of the FY 1996 funding.

As amended and reported, this bill is identical to Assembly Bill No. 2268 (1R) of 1996 (Corodemus/Bagger).

COMMITTEE AMENDMENT

The committee amendment is technical in nature to provide more accurate language for this appropriation. The amendment makes this bill identical to Assembly Bill No. 2268 (1R) of 1996.

FISCAL IMPACT

This bill appropriates a total $257,000 from the General Fund to the Department of State for the New Jersey Historical Commission and the Walter Edge Foran New Jersey Studies Institute.
