An Act concerning public assistance and supplementing Title 44 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Two or more municipalities may establish a joint public assistance trust fund account when the administration of public assistance for those municipalities is provided by the same director of welfare.

 

    2. Pursuant to the provisions of the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), the Commissioner of Human Services shall adopt regulations necessary to carry out the purposes of this act.

 

    3. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill allows two or more municipalities to establish a joint public assistance trust fund account when the administration of public assistance for those municipalities is provided by the same director of welfare.

    Currently, Department of Human Services' regulations prohibit municipalities from establishing joint public assistance trust fund accounts under any circumstances.
