FISCAL NOTE TO

[First Reprint]

SENATE, No. 1522

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: NOVEMBER 27, 1996

Senate Bill No. 1522 (1R) of 1996 permits the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to issue special Combat Medical Badge license plates to veterans certified to receive the military award. The fee for the plates would be $25 which is in addition to the fees otherwise prescribed by law for the registration of motor vehicles.

Based on estimated costs of about $10-$15 incurred by the DMV for expenses related to special Combat Infantryman Badge license plates, the proposed $25 fee for Combat Medical Badge license plates should be sufficient to cover the DMV issuing expenses for the proposed plates. It is further estimated that the number of Combat Medical Badge license plates issued would be less than the 182 Combat Infantryman Badge license plates issued to date.

The Office of Legislative Services concurs.
