An Act concerning the acquisition of tenure in a State-operated school district and supplementing chapter 7A of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding the provisions of N.J.S.18A:28-5, N.J.S.18A:28-6 or any other law to the contrary, any person hired in a State-operated school district subsequent to the date of its creation may only have those periods of employment in which the person resides within the district count toward the acquisition of tenure within the school district.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill provides that notwithstanding the provisions of N.J.S.18A:28-5, N.J.S.18A:28-6 or any other law to the contrary, any person hired in a State-operated school district subsequent to the date of its creation may only have those periods of employment in which the person resides within the district count toward the acquisition of tenure within the school district.
