An Act concerning hypodermic needles and syringes and supplementing Title 24 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. No person may sell, distribute, or furnish to any person in this State a hypodermic needle or syringe unless the needle or syringe identifies the manufacturer of the needle or syringe, and contains a serial number indicating the manufacturer's batch and lot number for the needle or syringe.

    The provisions of this act shall apply to hypodermic needles or syringes manufactured on or after the effective date of this act.

  

    2. This act shall take effect 60 days after the date of enactment.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill requires that any hypodermic needle or syringe sold, distributed or otherwise furnished to any person in this State shall identify the manufacturer of the needle or syringe, and contain a serial number indicating the manufacturer's batch and lot number for the needle or syringe.

    The provisions of this bill apply to hypodermic needles or syringes manufactured on or after the 60th day after the date of enactment of the bill.
