This bill appropriates $58,049 to the Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife to pay past dues owed by the department to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC). The appropriated amount reflects a three-year balance of past dues totaling $11,845 from FY 1994, $23,102 from FY 1995, and $23,102 from FY 1996. Continued failure to provide unpaid dues to the commission may result in reduced State participation in its activities. The ASMFC was created by an interstate compact approved by Congress in 1942 for the purpose of developing, managing and coordinating territorial fishing policies along the Atlantic seaboard.
