A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 28, 1996 (P.L.1996, c.42).

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1.    In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1996, c.42, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

      The department shall consult with the Department of Environmental Protection on all work to be done with the monies appropriated pursuant to this section.

      2.   This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

      This bill would appropriate $350,000 to the Department of Transportation to repair and renovate bridges and other structures associated with the Sussex Branch Trail and similar trails in the State and to make other appropriate repairs to the trails, all of which would be done in consultation with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The Sussex Branch Trail is an approximately 20-mile long abandoned railroad line in Sussex and Morris counties that is owned by the State and has been converted by the DEP into a recreational trail. The repair and renovation work is necessary so that the full extent of this and other similar State trails may be utilized for their intended recreational purpose.

Appropriates $350,000 to DOT for bridge and trail repair and renovation on Sussex Branch Trail and other similar State trails.
