Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. A student who is late for school shall not be denied immediate entry into the school building. The student may be directed to a room inside the school building other than the room to which the student would otherwise report upon arrival.

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

This bill provides that a student who is late for school shall not be denied immediate entry into the school building. The student may be directed, however, to a room inside the school building other than the room to which the student would otherwise report upon arrival. In some school districts, students who are late for school have been forced to wait outside the school building for a period of time, even when the weather is inclement.

Prohibits school district from denying a late student immediate entry into school building.
