A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 28, 1996 (P.L.1996, c.42).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1996, c.42, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill appropriates $60,000 to the Department of Labor for a grant to the Institute for Arts and Humanities Education for the establishment of an Arts Service Corps at the New Jersey Summer Arts Institute. The Arts Service Corps will provide culturally diverse, young artists, drawn from all of the State's counties, with an opportunity to combine summer learning experiences with year-round employment. By providing students with necessary skills and first time work experience, the corps is intended to encourage students to pursue additional education and training so that they may ultimately qualify for more highly skilled jobs.
The Institute for Arts and Humanities Education is a non-profit organization located in New Brunswick.
Supplemental appropriation of $60,000 to Department of Labor for grant to establish Arts Service Corps.
