This bill would appropriate $8,000,000 to the Department of Commerce and Economic Development from the "1996 Economic Development Site Fund," which was established pursuant to the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," (P.L.1996, c.70). The Fund was established to provide monies for various economic development projects in the southern half of New Jersey. The monies appropriated by this bill would be used to finance the costs related to the design and construction of a new Rowan University/Camden County College Allied Health Science Center, to be located on the joint campus of Camden County College and Rowan University. This industry is vital to the economic base of Camden, and currently employs over 6,000 people at three area hospitals. The new Center will ensure that these health care facilities and others in the Camden area have a professionally educated supply of skilled health care professionals to draw from in the future.
