An Act concerning the public dedication of certain private roads and supplementing chapter 67 of Title 40 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. A municipality shall not accept for dedication as a public road or street any private road or street that was formerly a public road or street and that is situate between the municipality and an adjacent municipality, unless both the municipality and adjacent municipality agree to accept the private road or street for dedication as a public road or street.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would require that when a public road or street situate between adjacent municipalities is privatized, the road or street cannot be accepted for rededication as a public road or street unless both adjacent municipalities so agree.

 

 

                             

Requires agreement of adjacent municipalities to accept public dedication of private road or street that was formerly public.
