An Act concerning parole eligibility in certain cases and supplementing Title 30 of the Revised Statutes.

Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. The provisions of R.S.30:4-92 concerning the awarding of work credits and the provisions of R.S.30:4-140 concerning the remission of good time credits shall not apply to any person incarcerated for a crime committed against a law enforcement officer acting in the performance of his duties while in uniform or exhibiting evidence of his authority.

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

Under present law, the length of time which a person sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a State correctional facility must serve before being eligible for parole can be reduced by good time and work credits. This bill would provide that a person imprisoned for a crime committed against a law enforcement officer in the performance of his duties would not be eligible for good time and work credits.

Makes persons imprisoned for crimes against law enforcement officers ineligible for good time and work credits.
