An Act appropriating $5.2 million from the "1996 Dredging and Containment Facility Fund," established pursuant to section 18 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70, for the dredging of various navigation channels not located in the port region, and for the acquisition and maintenance of related disposal areas.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. There is appropriated to the Department of Environmental Protection from the "1996 Dredging and Containment Facility Fund," established pursuant to section 18 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70, the sum of $5.2 million for the cost of dredging the following navigation channels not located in the port region, and the cost of related dredged material disposal, in accordance with the provisions of section 7 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70:

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill would appropriate $5.2 million from the "1996 Dredging and Containment Facility Fund," established pursuant to section 18 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L. 1996, c.70, for the dredging of navigation channels not located in the port region, and for the costs of disposal associated with these projects. Pursuant to section 7 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L. 1996, c.70, the sum of $20 million is authorized for the purposes of financing the cost of dredging navigation channels outside of the port region. This bill represents the first appropriation of bond monies from the 1996 bond act for these purposes.
