DATED: NOVEMBER 17, 1997

The Senate Environment Committee favorably reports Senate Bill No. 2214 with committee amendments.

This bill would amend the FY 1998 Appropriations Act to add a language provision to allow the Department of Environmental Protection to utilize moneys in the Operation Clean Shores account for priorities and programs associated with the coastal region.

The bill would authorize the approximately $720,000 in the account to be used for the Operation Clean Shores program as well as for State and local costs of the Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program, monitoring of stormwater systems and watershed mapping.

The committee amendments are technical in nature.
