An Act concerning tort actions involving persons occupying stolen motor vehicles.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Any person who sustains bodily injury or death in an accident while knowingly operating or occupying a motor vehicle without the permission of the owner or other named insured shall have no cause of action against a tortfeasor.
2. This act shall take effect immediately and apply to causes of action accruing on or after the effective date.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that persons who knowingly operate or ride in a stolen motor vehicle will have no cause of action for bodily injuries that they may sustain as a result of an accident.
Bars suits for damages by persons injured in a stolen motor vehicle.
