An Act appropriating $450,000 from the "1996 Dredging and Containment Facility Fund," established pursuant to section 18 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70, for the dredging of Cedar Creek in Ocean County.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. There is appropriated to the Department of Environmental Protection from the "1996 Dredging and Containment Facility Fund," established pursuant to section 18 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70, the sum of $450,000 for the cost of dredging Cedar Creek, which is located on the border of Berkeley and Lacey Townships in Ocean County, in accordance with the provisions of section 7 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would appropriate $450,000 from the "1996 Dredging and Containment Facility Fund," established pursuant to section 18 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70, for the dredging of Cedar Creek, which is located on the border of Berkeley and Lacey Townships in Ocean County. Pursuant to section 7 of the "Port of New Jersey Revitalization, Dredging, Environmental Cleanup, Lake Restoration, and Delaware Bay Area Economic Development Bond Act of 1996," P.L.1996, c.70, the sum of $20 million is authorized for the purposes of financing the cost of dredging navigation channels outside of the port region. This bill represents the first appropriation of bond monies from the 1996 bond act for these purposes.
