An Act to amend "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1998 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 27, 1997 (P.L.1997, c.131).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The following language provision is added to section 1 of P.L.1997, c.131 (on page 64) as follows:

 

GENERAL FUND

54 DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES

 30 Educational, Cultural and Intellectual Development

32 Operation and Support of Educational Institutions

7600 Division of Developmental Disabilities

 

Receipts not to exceed $400,000 from the Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance payments received by persons residing at any of the developmental centers operated by the Department of Human Services are appropriated to the Foster Grandparents account to be used for the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion programs.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

      This bill appropriates up to $400,000 in excess Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance payments received by persons residing at the State developmental centers for use in the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion programs.

      At present, over 500 persons residing at the State developmental centers are in need of services provided by the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion programs. The $400,000 would enable 180 persons to receive services from these two programs.

 

 

                                

 

Appropriates up to $400,000 in revenues for the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companionship programs.
