ASSEMBLY COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. 86

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: DECEMBER 11, 1997

The Assembly Community Services Committee reports favorably Senate Concurrent Resolution Bill No. 86.

This concurrent resolution urges the United States Postal Service to issue a stamp commemorating Elizabeth Monroe Boggs. Ms. Boggs was a strong advocate for people with developmental disabilities, who was a founder and former president of The ARC of the United States and the director of the New Jersey Office of Prevention of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. She served on the President's Commission on Mental Retardation during the Kennedy administration and worked with Congress to develop the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program for people with developmental impairments.

This resolution is identical to Assembly Concurrent Resolution No.122, which was released by this committee on this date.
