SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. 98

 

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

 

INTRODUCED OCTOBER 28, 1996

A Concurrent Resolution approving projects for funding under the "New Jersey Green Acres, Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation Bond Act of 1987," P.L.1987, c.265.

 

Whereas, "The New Jersey Green Acres, Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation Bond Act of 1987," P.L.1987, c.265, authorizes the issuance of bonds in the amount of $100,000,000 for the purpose of financing the construction and development of cultural centers and the restoration, repair or rehabilitation of historic structures in the State and for the purpose of providing grants and loans to local government 1units1 to acquire and develop lands for recreation and conservation purposes; and

Whereas, There is a need to develop cultural centers in the State which would bring the arts and humanities to residents of New Jersey and to tourists; and

Whereas, The development or preservation of cultural centers would provide regional meeting places for the residents of the State to share with one another and residents from other states the varied cultural activities available in New Jersey; and

Whereas, The State Council on the Arts is responsible for the awarding of grants on a competitive basis for cultural center development in the State; and

Whereas, The State Council on the Arts has satisfied the requirements of subsection g. of section 4 of 1[that act] P.L. 1987, c.265,1 and the Legislature has received the documentation required to be submitted to it 1[by] for approval pursuant to1 subsection g. of section 4 of 1[the bond] that1 act; and

Whereas, The following list of projects totaling $8,036,000 have been recommended for approval under the bond act; now therefore,


    Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey (the General Assembly concurring):

 

    The following projects recommended for funding under the "New Jersey Green Acres, Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation Bond Act of 1987," P.L.1987, c.265, totaling $8,036,000 are approved. This approval shall be deemed to include such changes or modifications to the projects as architectural or engineering designs or changes in departmental needs indicate are necessary; provided that such changes or modifications do not materially change the scope or use of the project or materially increase the costs as described in the project report after adjustments for the effects of inflation in the construction industry.
