SENATE RESOLUTION No. 6

 

with committee amendments

 

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

      The Senate Senior Citizens, Veterans' Affairs and Agriculture Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Resolution, No. 6.

      This resolution memorializes the Congress of the United States to pass H.R.2540, which would prohibit any member of the armed forces from being required "to wear as part of the uniform any badge, symbol, helmet, headgear, or other visible indicia or insignia which indicates (or tends to indicate) any allegiance or affiliation to or with the United Nations".

 

COMMITTEE AMENDMENT:

      The committee adopted amendments updating the resolution's preamble to reflect changes in the status of Army Specialist Michael New who refused to wear UN insignia. Specialist New was court-martialed and has received a bad conduct discharge since the resolution was introduced.
