SENATE RESOLUTION No. 9

 

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

 

INTRODUCED JANUARY 18, 1996

A Senate Resolution urging the State Revenue Forecasting Advisory Commission to meet immediately, reorganize and prepare the next required report.

 

WHEREAS, The State Legislature enacted a statute to create a permanent commission to engage in continuous study of State tax and revenue collections; and

WHEREAS, The State Revenue Forecasting Advisory Commission is to provide advisory revenue forecasts to assist the Governor and the Legislature for budget purposes; and

WHEREAS, The commission members were selected in a bipartisan manner for their knowledge and practical experience in the fields of taxes and economics; and

WHEREAS, The commission members are to provide, at least, quarterly revenue forecasts in the form of written reports to specified offices of State government; and

WHEREAS, The commission has not met within the past year to fulfill its statutory requirements and make reports; now, therefore,

 

    Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The State Revenue Forecasting Advisory Commission is strongly urged to meet immediately and reorganize as soon as possible.

 

    2. While availing itself of all necessary services, pursuant to law, the commission shall consider the expert opinions of its members and make its first quarterly report on State tax and revenue collections.

 

    3. A duly authenticated copy of this resolution, signed by the President and attested by the Secretary, shall be forwarded to the Governor and the Speaker of the General Assembly.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This Senate resolution urges the State Revenue Forecasting Advisory Commission to fulfill its statutory requirements of meeting, reorganizing and making its first quarterly report. The commission has yet to discharge its responsibilities.
