SENATE, No. 3726

with Senate Floor Amendments

(Proposed by Senator WEINBERG)

ADOPTED: DECEMBER 2, 2021

      These Senate amendments:

· remove the requirement that school staff receive advance written notice that a school security drill has been scheduled to occur;

· require that the school district provide clear, developmentally and age-appropriate messaging to students and staff at the conclusion of the drill that the event is a drill and that no current danger exists; and

· require the school district to review and update its school security drill procedures using a process that coincides with the review of its school safety and security plan, which is  reviewed and updated annually pursuant to State regulation.
