The Commission will take testimony from the public concerning the following:

(1) Whether the death penalty serves a legitimate penological intent such as deterrence.

(2) Whether the penological interest in executing some of those guilty of murder is sufficiently compelling that the risk of an irreversable mistake is acceptable.

(3) Whether the death penalty is consistent with evolving standards of decency.

It would be greatly appreciated if persons wishing to testify would provide 15 written copies of their testimony to the Commission in advance of the meeting. Oral testimony may be limited

at the discretion of the Chairman.
